How to Join a Discord Voice Call Directly From Your Xbox

Playing some Halo Infinite with friends on both console and PC? Exploring new Minecraft biomes with your friends, or see ‘em all playing another game that supports cross-play? No need to stick to just your phone — join the Discord call directly from your Xbox console and gather your friends from console, PC, and mobile all into one voice chat

If you’re looking to use Discord on either your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console, keep reading to learn how easy it is to hop on a Discord call from the comfort of a cozy couch. Or beanbag. Or just the floor.

First, Connect Your Xbox Account to Discord

In order to start talking with your Discord friends on your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console, you’ll first need to connect your Xbox account to your Discord account.

Head to User Settings > Connections on desktop, web, or mobile. Then, click or tap on the Xbox logo and follow the prompts to set everything up!

Connecting your Xbox and Discord accounts lets you display your gamertag, current game activity, and how long you’ve been playing that game in your user profile. And most importantly, you’ll also be able to voice chat with your friends on Discord directly from your console!

If you connected your Xbox and Discord accounts before making a Discord call from your console was a thing, you’ll need to connect them again to be able to join a voice call on your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One.

Looking to get a head start and speed through the account connection process? Use this snazzy Blurple button below, and Discord will open straight to your Connections tab:

Then, Hop on a Discord Call From Your Xbox!

The hardest part is all done. Now, you’ll just need your Xbox controller from here on! And of course, a headset to talk with. Unless you wanted to use your phone’s mic, in which case, what’re ya doin’ here in the first place?

To join a Discord call from your Xbox, pick up your controller and turn on your Xbox. (Look, sometimes we forget that part.) On your Xbox dashboard, press the Xbox button in the middle of your controller, scroll to the Parties & Chats tab, and select the Discord “Join a Voice channel” option

Scroll through the list of your available Discord servers and voice channels and pick one to join! Once you pick a voice channel, you’ll immediately be placed in it. Make sure your headset’s plugged in before joining!

Alternatively, Transfer Your Current Discord Call to Your Xbox

If you’re currently in a Discord call on your phone or laptop, you can actually “move” that call directly to your Xbox, without trying to find that same voice channel on your console. And even better, you’re probably really close to the button that does it already!

The next time you’re chillin’ on a Discord call, press the Three-Dots button next to the Soundboard. Since you linked your gaming accounts to your Discord profile, it’s a new button for you to use! Click this, and you’ll see an option to Transfer to Xbox

The Transfer to Xbox option.

When you click Transfer to Xbox, you’ll be presented with a QR code. Scan that, and it will open the Xbox app on your mobile device. (Download it here if you haven’t already.) Pick the Xbox console you want to transfer your call to, and you’re good to go!

How to Stream Your Xbox Game to Discord

WOAH WOAH WOAH there… what do you mean “stream Xbox to Discord???” Yes, you heard us right: you can stream whatever game you’re playing on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, or Xbox One console directly to your friends in the Discord call.

That screenshot above? That could be you 🫵, about to press that “Stream your game” button to share your Xbox screen with your Discord buddies from your couch, bed, campsite, or wherever you’ve got your Xbox set up.

Why ISN’T that you right now? Press this big ol’ button below and learn how to stream from your Xbox to Discord. (If you’ve already made it to a call from your console, you’re already most of the way there!)

You can also watch one of your Discord friends’ streams from your Xbox console, so you can see what everyone’s screaming at what they said was either “the sickest clutch play in weeks” or “a complete and total flop.” The latter? Couldn’t be you. You only do the cool stuff. You just streamed it to Discord from your Xbox, after all.

How to Share What Xbox Game You’re Playing on Discord

WAIT, we’re not done tellin’ you cool Xbox & Discord features yet!!! After you’ve connected your Xbox account to Discord, you’ll be able to show the game you’re playing as your Discord status!

By heading into User Settings > Connections, that new Xbox connection you added will have a “Display Xbox as your status” option. If you keep it on, any Xbox game you’re playing will be shown as your current status on Discord.

And if you’re on your Xbox already? It gets better: on your Xbox, you can see which voice channels your friends are currently hanging out in that you can join in on. If they’re online on Discord and playing something but not in a voice channel, you can also call them directly from your Xbox’s Friends menu!

You can hop on a Discord voice channel or start a direct call from your Xbox. You can stream to Discord from your Xbox. You can watch your friend’s Discord streams from your Xbox. You can even see your Discord friends on your Xbox, and your Discord friends can see what you’re currently playing on your Xbox! We’ve heard this blog post is also an Xbox, but no confirmation on that part yet…
